Esau suspends controversial fishing permit fees

WINDHOEK—Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Bernard Esau, has announced that notice 158 regulating recreational fishing permit fees has been recalled for the time being.

“As a Minister, I want to see democracy take place. A new pricing structure for fees will be formed only after a process of consultation with all stake holders.”

Esau said he signed the document before travelling to Walvis Bay to launch the Namibia Fish Consumption Trust Annual Fish Consumption Day that will be held in Nkurenkuru later this year.
